so, now i'm all alone. by myself in Amsterdam. although its pretty sad to leave Nathan and make him go back to survey school (boo), i must admit that im so glad to be here.
yesterday was the Queen's Day. It was insane here. Over a million tourists come (which doubles the population) and there are insane parties everywhere. People were dancing in the streets like crazy. and everything here is so surprisingly latin. There are countless Argentine restaurants, souvenirs from Ecuador and Peru, never ending reggaeton and merengue, and more Spanish than any other language. its weird, but i thoroughly love it.
my hotel window overlooks the busiest street in Amsterdam. so, i bought some grapes and a heineken and sat watching people for about 2 hours. its insanely noisy at night, but totally worth it for the great view.
Amsterdam is my favorite place i've been so far (in Europe, i mean haha). Its so beautiful. The canals make it romantic and its a totally different way of life.

One of my favorite things is watching people though. Like, in the Red Light district (its really not as bad as they make it out to be), little old couples walk through pretending like they are just passing by, but they really are curious. haha. its so funny.
this afternoon im heading to the Anne Frank Haus and then to sit and read at the park. then tomorrow, its the long journey home.
